I help adolescents and adults address a variety of struggles including anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, identity development, relationship issues, and life adjustments.
My approach to counseling is collaborative and strengths-based in nature. I see you as the expert in your own life. I will work alongside you as we develop goals for therapy and build on your pre-existing strengths to cultivate positive change.
I come from a Person-Centered and Emotionally Focused school of thought—meaning I understand the importance of taking my client’s whole self, their unique life experiences, and any attachment injuries they may have into consideration. I aim to create a safe space for my clients so they can process their emotions and understand themselves without judgment.
My areas of specialty include anxiety and working with members of the neurodivergent and LGBTQIA communities. I tend to work well with people who are highly sensitive. I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston. Joellen Zvara is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas working under the supervision of Carlos Mendoza, MA, LPC-S.
