Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories.

This well-researched treatment for trauma and stress brings the nervous system to a relaxed state, where traumatic and distressful memories can be processed and dissolved. This method involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process traumatic memories.

What Does All of That Mean?

EMDR can help you alleviate the symptoms of many different mental health issues including:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Eating disorders

  • Substance abuse

  • Sexual disfunction

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder

EMDR's goal is to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.

Using detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy treatment sessions,

clinicians help clients activate their natural healing process.
